Agra Fort: Made up of red stone, Agra Fort is another famous monument in Agra. Initial construction of Agra Fort was started by Akbar in 1565. Flattened on the east with a long wall facing the river, Agra Fort is of crescent shape. It’s interesting to know that the layout of the fort was determined by the course of the river. Sikandra Fort: Sikandra Fort is situated only 13 km from Agra Fort. It is known as the resting place of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. In the Sikandra Fort, you will see Akbar’s carved red sandstone tomb amidst a lush green garden. According to people, Akbar himself chose this site for his tomb. It was Akbar’s son Jahangir who later completed the construction of the tomb in 1613.
